To go from Juiz de Fora hitchhiking to Belo Horizonte you may go to the Getúlio Vargas avenue (on the downtown) in front of Mister Shopping and there take one of the following buses:- Paula Lima;
- Chapéu Duvas;
- BR040; or
- Dias Tavares
and ask to get out in the Graal gas station (this place marked on the map) or after (this seems better) in the Police station..
there' some drives who pass by there everyday and they always takes the hitchhikers in this way.. i just can't say anything more coz it can give them problems :P

I hitchhiked here with a friend... well, we just took a bus from the Juiz de Fora downtown to Salvaterra.OUR EXPERIENCE:
it was afternoon and we were two guys. maybe that were the problem. we spent something like 2hours hitching rides there, and we walked many meters ahead and had to keep distant one from the other to make it more easy to get a ride (coz they wouldn't think we were together).
so, two cars stoped and they were both going to Rio.. we gone with the second one with 2 places.
so, i think it maybe get a little dificult (but not too much) but when someone stops to you, you have a big chance to get a ride directly to Rio.

It's very easy to hitchhike to Rio from this spot. I'v tried several times, and I never stayed more than 15min.―Anonymous

You can take the bus SANTO ANTONIO, or just walk, it's not that far from the center. There's a speed bump nowadays, that doesn't appear in the google maps image.―Anonymous

Já peguei muitas caronas neste ponto e também varias pessoas pegam, já é um ponto conhecido por caroneiros.Tem um quebra mola e um ponto de ônibus no local, que facilita muito, pois tem uma área muito boa para os carros parar no acostamento.
Você pode pegar um ônibus no centro da cidade e chegar neste ponto. Se você perguntar onde é o ponto de caroneiro no bairro Grama certamente alguém vai consegui lhe explicar.
Mais a frente deste local tem outro ponto que bastante caroneiros costumam pedir, que é na frente do posto da policia rodoviária, onde é o ponto final da linha de ônibus.
Mas eu recomendo este ponto aqui, pois acho que o pessoal costuma parar com maior frequência.

Peguei carona próximo à Churrascaria Potência do Sul, logo após o quebra mola, o que faz com que os carros estejam em menor velocidade e te vejam com mais facilidade.Peguei no sentido para Além Paraíba mas muitos passam ali indo para o Rio de Janeiro.
Para chegar:
Basta pegar um dos ônibus (Salvaterra, Monte Verde, Torreoes) na cidade e descer no pronto em frente a Churrascaria.
